The theme of this book can be summed up as “short,” “compatible,” and “express”. “Short” denotes that the texts are short, with clear explanations of grammar points, making the book suitable for shortterm Chinese language teaching. “Compatible” denotes its generality: when selecting topics and making teaching arrangements, the writer has eliminated time and regional elements, making the book suitable for the Chinese language teaching to different mother-tongue speakers across a range of regions. “Express”denotes that the book is helpful in terms of improving learners’ Chinese language ability rapidly, and assisting them to adapt quickly to the Chinese language environment, whilst meeting their daily communication needs.
This series of textbooks addresses three levels of study: fundamental, intermediate and advanced. Each level has a “listening and speaking book” and a “reading and writing book”. The two books are related by topic, theme and vocabulary, and are linked as a whole, giving students a full range of training.
