This project, set up in June 2003, is a survey on the academic and psychological development of Chinese primary and middle school students. The survey was carried out by a creative research team under the coordination of Professor Jiliang Shen. The team focused on the academic and psychological development of students at Beijing Normal University. They also carried out an extensive survey targeting the academic and psychological development of primary and middle school students country-wide. Survey questionnaires were designed by the project team. Data and group interview records, collected systematically, reveal the condition and rules of the academic and psychological development of Chinese primary and middle school students. The survey also takes into account such influential facts as the conditions of study, the health of students and their parents, and the influence of the teacher. The research aims to expose the rules and influential facts pertinent to the academic and psychological development of primary and middle school students.
